Programme for Saturday 23rd July

Armonico Consort

Coronation Of Queen Elizabeth

Conductor - Christopher Monks

As we started, so we will finish, with the 20th Annual Festival being ‘book-ended’ by the second of two special choral concerts. This year’s Final Concert will feature our distinguished musical colleagues from the Midlands, Armonico Consort. Having already given the children of Llandeilo Primary School the priceless opportunity of singing alongside them in the premiere of a new work in London’s Royal Albert Hall they will now be bringing their highly professional musicians to St Teilo’s, in a special concert to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. This final Festival performance will feature the sublime choral music from her 1953 Coronation, pieces such as Handel’s ‘Zadok the Priest’ and Parry’s ‘I was glad’. Armonico Consort’s performance will aim to be nothing less than a re-creation of the music and ceremonial which accompanied the original crowning of the world’s longest serving monarch, in a country unrivalled throughout that world in its ability to stage such an event.
